U.S. Capitol

ATTENTION: Please see the below guidance for tours and museums during the coronavirus outbreak:

 

  • The Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) is closed for tours effective Thursday, March 12, at 4:30 p.m. All tours are cancelled.
  • The White House has suspended all tours.
  • The National Museum of African American History and Culture is closed to the public effective Saturday, March 14.
  • All Smithsonian Museums are closed to the public effective Saturday, March 14.

Guided tours of the Capitol begin in the Capitol Visitors Center (CVC) at the Orientation Theaters on the lower level of the CVC. The movie is followed by a guided tour of the Capitol building that will last approximately 45 minutes.

  • Tours are free, but tour passes are required. Passes can be optained in two ways:
  • Hours: 8:50 a.m. - 3:20 p.m., Monday – Friday. The CVC is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Inauguration Day.
  • Location: Below the East Plaza of the Capitol between Constitution and Independence Avenue.
  • Metro Stop: Orange or Blue Lines to Capitol South Metro Station.
